I found myself running a few errands in Noosa the other day… around lunchtime. A girl has got to eat, but choosing a venue is no easy feat, are there are so many wonderful establishments in Noosa/Noosaville. So I decided to revisit a favourite – Thomas Corner Eatery on Thomas Street in Noosaville.
I am perhaps a little predictable… I more often than not stop in at Thomas Corner Eatery when in Noosa, even if it is just for a coffee. I just love it. I love sitting on their terrace, looking over the Noosa River, watching the ferry come and go, I love the ambience of the venue and most of all, I love the food. It never disappoints.

Chef David Rayner, a huge supporter locally produce, always fills his menu with dishes that showcases produce in a fresh, light, and most importantly, delicious way.
We decided to start with some oysters; incredibly fresh Coffin Bay oysters, shucked on site, served with their lids on a mound of rock salt and a small jug of chardonnay mignonette… sublime.

I abstained from wine – too many errands to be done, needed to think clearly – but I had brought my dad along for the ride, and he partook in a little Pinot Gris – I thought it was a bit fun that the wine is brought to the table in an Erlenmeyer flask… at least there is no doubt about the measurements!
I chose the Jason’s smoked ocean trout, celeriac remoulade, sorrel, fried capers and radish, which was just delicious. The ocean trout is quite special – the ‘Jason’ referred to is Jason from Noosa Fish Providores, and his smoked ocean trout is sensational, so I knew I was on a winner. That is the thing that is always guaranteed with Thomas Corner Eatery; fresh and quality, and getting premium local produce, pretty much ensures this.

Dad went with the fingerlime crusted Cone Bay barramundi, which was dressed with some snowpeas, pistachio and tzatziki dressing. Looked great, and I was assured it was – trust me – dad would have let me know if his dish was in anyway flawed!

I needed to satisfy a salt fix so I got some chilli salted chips as well – best chips BTW – and the roast tomato aioli is pretty yum too.

It was just a quick visit, so we lingered only long enough to enjoy a coffee, though the desert menu looks amazing… another time perhaps.

Dad is the ultimate critic, so bringing him along can be good or bad – if the food is great, he will rave about it all the way home… if not, well 40 minutes of whining won’t constitute as the highlight of my day. Fortunately, he was so impressed, he was on a buzz and the home route blitzed pleasantly by 🙂
Thank you Thomas Corner Eatery for another fine meal.
