Paddington has always been a favourite of mine, long before I ever started spending reasonable amounts of time there. There is an eclectic blend of old and new that makes this busy little precinct especially charming and unique.

Art galleries, antique stores and their poorer cousins, bric-a-brac and second hand stores spill out on to the streets, while cafes and stylish eating locals almost escape Paddington’s precipitous street side on breezy verandas and or shopfront courtyards.

There are just too many favourites, but I have become slightly attached to one little gem… and that would be Little Brew.

Saturday mornings don’t come much busier… and between the lycra clad cycling community and promenade of pooches led by their owners, it is not always that easy to find a space.  Locals are in the know and their loyalty has not been misplaced.

It is a great little space.  Front for street views, back for glorious Paddington views (I think I spotted some comfy looking cushions there too), and somewhere in between if you really don’t care where you sit… even the seats by the meter box have their allure when it comes to a good Saturday morning brew.

And the brew is definitely good (Louie Louie – ground no doubt by the magnificent contraption inside) and the drinks menu offers further explanation for the real coffee aficionados. However, there are also teas, juices and other forms of hydrational sustenance… and cocktails… yes please 🙂

Little Brew’s menu consists of an ‘all day menu’ which has some breaky favourites that merges in to a tapas menu from 2pm.

My haloumi and zucchini fritters were sensational.  Topped with a tangy tomato relish and a nicely poached egg the pretty awesome fritters sandwiched a luscious baked field mushroom.  If I had time to linger into the afternoon, some of tapas choices and charcuterie platters would have been a certain ‘must try’… for now it will need to wait until next time.

The staff was friendly and efficient, there was a wait, but it was not from neglect… this little gem is genuinely busy. But that’s ok, it gave me time to make friends with the resident magpie (or what ever he was) that seemed insistent on helping with the clean up…

Over all it is nice to find a resting spot that has great coffee and good food and is not only friendly to it’s customers, but to their pampered pooches as well.
